According to data by the Department of Economy, the accumulated foreign direct investment (FDI) in the state between 2017 and 2018 was USD 2.71 billion, one of the top ten highest figures in Mexico.

Japan is the principal shareholder, with an accumulated share in the same period of 59.5 percent of the FDI in Aguascalientes, followed by the United States with 16.8 percent, and Germany, with 14.3 percent.
