Gran Hotel Alameda: a Jewel of Our State

Gran Hotel Alameda is one of the most important buildings in the history of tourism of Aguascalientes. It was built in 1899 with an elegant French architectural style as part of the Old Hacienda Ojocaliente, the house of the Escobedo family. During the times of the Mexican Revolution, it served as Pancho Villa’s basecamp, although it remained abandoned for several decades.

The hotel is located on the famous Alameda, a tree-lined avenue that starts outside the Temple of La Purísima and ends at the Ojocaliente steam baths. Everyone in Aguascalientes has walked along this legendary avenue, which is crowned with the dazzlingly beautiful Gran Hotel Alameda, considered a jewel to our city, a place whose rich traditions become more deeply rooted with the passage of time

In 1989, the Torres Landa family undertook the task of rescuing the building (which at the time was known as Hotel Escobedo) and, on April 13,1991, they reopened it as the Andrea Alameda hotel.

The business underwent a change of management in 2009, and the hotel was renamed Gran Hotel Alameda, becoming one of the hotels that holds the Treasures of Mexico distinction granted by the federal government. It offers 48 suits overlooking its spectacular gardens or the traditional Alameda Avenue. All rooms are equipped with furniture of the best quality, finely decorated, and warmly lit to welcome its guests.

La Alameda a tree-lined avenue starts outside the Temple of La Purísima and ends in, what in the past, was Hotel Escobedo and the Ojocaliente steam baths. Everyone in Aguascalientes has walked along this legendary avenue, which is crowned with the dazzlingly beautiful Gran Hotel Alameda, a place that makes local people proud. The hotel is considered a jewel to our city, a place whose rich traditions become more deeply rooted with the passage of time.

Another main feature of Hotel Alameda is its haute cuisine. Las Magnolias Cafetería offers the most delicious à la carte breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals. Las Uvas Restaurant, located in the back patio, offers a variety of specialties as well. Barcelonett is the bar where you can enjoy great drinks and cocktails. The premise can hold meetings from 30 to 1500 people in its different rooms.

Staying at Gran Hotel Alameda is an unforgettable experience, from its admirable architecture that takes one back to the splendid times of the Porfiriato, to letting yourself be pampered by the staff as it is their mission to offer lodging and banquet service of surpassing excellence. It is, indeed, the place with more tradition and history in Aguascalientes. They treat their guests with warmth and professionalism, always aiming at the best satisfaction and company development.
