Aguascalientes has foreign direct investment from several countries. Only from 2017 to the third quarter of 2019, 3.24 billion dollars were counted, 13 percent of which were of German origin, which places us as the ninth state with the highest German investment in Mexico. This was announced by the Secretary of Economic Development, Manuel Alejandro Gonzalez Martinez, during a working meeting held by representatives of the Central Bajio-West Alliance with the Ambassador of Mexico in Germany, Rogelio Granguillhome Morfin, through which they seek to strengthen ties of cooperation to achieve economic diversification in the region, and thus Aguascalientes is projected as a competitive and prosperous state internationally.
The state official pointed out that it seeks the consolidation of a strategy that allows for the increase of trade with Germany and triggers the attraction of investments by taking advantage of the qualities that can be found in the state and the region.
Within the state the main German companies present are: Mercedez-Benz, Continental, Bosch, Mahle, Allgaier and ZF, among others, which generate more than six thousand formal jobs that contribute to the economic strengthening and welfare of the society of Aguascalientes.
During the meeting, which took place in Mexico City, were also present the heads of Political
Coordination and Business Linkage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), Alberto Uribe Camacho and Javier Jileta Verduzco, respectively, in addition to the general director of the Mexican Association of Secretaries of Economic Development (AMSDE), Misael Lopez Vergara.
