Connecting SMES with large national distributors

In Otober 2018, thirteen member companies of the “Made in Aguascalientes” label became suppliersto the OXXO retailer in ten of their convenience stores across the state.

This was born when the Department for Economic Development (SEDEC) awarded the label to businessowners who wanted to boost their businesses. This would, ultimately, benefit the state´s economy.

Such has been this initiative’s success that SEDEC is aiming at increasing the number of local companies whose products can be found on the shelves of supermarket chains like OXXO, Home Depot, Soriana, and Walmart.

To do this, a second phase will be launched. Twenty-eight new companies will participate in the selection process. These companies are mostly in the food and beverage industry.

Furthermore, negotiations are being conducted with Soriana to make a new selection of local supplier who could have a chance to become part of the chain. Forty-three companies had previously been selected to enter the supply chain.

Additionally, SEDEC’s objective is to have local companies present at the best trade expos in the country. Some of these include international exhibitors. Examples include the fair

from the National Association of Supermarkets and Department Stores (ANTAD), and the Good Show Gourmet. The latter (Aug 28-31) will receive eleven local companies that will try to establish relations with large chain stores.
