Boca de Túnel, a tourist attraction in Aguascalientes

Besides the different tourist attractions across the state, Aguascalientes is home of three Pueblos Mágicos (Magic Towns, a designation by the Department of Tourism): Real de Asientos, Calvillo, and San José de Gracia. They can be (re)discovered in any season, but specially while on holiday. There is one place in San José de Gracia that is perfect to visit. Its name is Boca de Túnel.

It has taken Mother Earth millions of years to carve the rock and create Boca de Túnel (literally “tunnel mouth”), one of the most impressive natural monuments of Aguascalientes, a site that offers visitors a thrilling eco-tourism experience.

Located about 70 kilometers north of the capital city, a 15-minute ride from the town, Boca de Tunnel de Poterillos its full name presents all its splendor to adventure seekers.

This canon system is part of the hydrological complex formed at the heights of the Sierra Fría, a mountain range located north west of the state. The climate there is cooler than in the town, with an average temperature of 16º C, which makes it perfect for outdoor activities.

The tour around the canons is full of fun activities:

  • 13 hanging bridges and 3 zip lines
  • Boat trips
  • Hiking
  • Horseback riding
  • Camping area
  • Incredible Scenery
  • Cabin rentals

You may also rent a boat and drift along the reservoir, visit the dam, or fish in this beautiful canon-surrounded body of water.

Due to the health contingency, different sanitary measures have been implemented, like sanitizing foot-mat at the entrance, obligatory use of  facemask, obligatory anti-bacterial gel, and disinfection of helmets and harnesses, among others.
